The Perfect Homemade Latte

I think I’ve perfected my at-home latte, making it better than any local coffee shop. It’s not just about the coffee it’s also about the ritual, the aroma that fills the room, and that first sip feeling while sitting on your couch. I’ve also learned to adapt my at home latte skills to homes I visited and have tested plenty of different coffee machines and other coffee utensils to truly perfect this recipe. Here’s how to elevate your at home coffee to something you go to bed excited to wake up to each morning! I’ll take you through what I use and exactly how I make it.

First things first, get a an espresso machine. I love the CasaBrews, Nespresso, and Breville espresso machines. It truly depends on your pricepoint and what you are looking for! CasaBrews is more affordable and still makes excellent espresso. The Nespresso can be used for both espresso and coffee and I know some people like to use the pods for their ease - you do you! The Breville is definitely a luxury and something I hope to have in my own home in the future. Once you pick out your preferred espresso machines, you are well prepared to take the next steps.

Next up, espresso cups and latte glasses. I like these espresso spout cups because they make it super easy to pour the brewed espresso into your glass. I’ve had these glasses for awhile now and I am still in love with them. They come with a set of glass straws which really elevates the latte and makes it for a super cute set up.

Lastly, is your milk frother. A milk frother is truly a game changer and my favorite is the Nespresso Milk Frother (you can also by the machine and the frother together!). It’s good at its job, durable, and it looks so sleek. I will say this one is on the more expensive side so if you are looking for a cheaper alternative I have also used this handheld frother which is smaller and more compact.

Now you are ready to prepare your latte! The first thing I do is brew my espresso with honey at the bottom of the espresso cup. You want the honey to melt with the hot espresso, and you want to do all this first so that the espresso has time to cool. Once the espresso is poured (I usually make a double shot) you want to add a sprinkle of sea salt. Then take out your favorite glass and glass straw and fill it to the brim with ice. Next, pour your milk of choice (I like to use a local whole milk) into your frother. The Nespresso Milk Frother has a “chilled” setting so I always use that setting since I make my lattes iced. While your milk is frothing pour the espresso into your glass and mix with the straw. Finally, take the frothed milk and fill your glass to the top - you can always do more or less depending on how you like the color of your latte. Time to enjoy!

These are my go-to products to make the BEST at-home lattes and I can wait for you all to try!
